  Tigray Mountains

  Mt. Kundudo over Harar, Haile Selassie's home town of Ejersa Goro is located to the      left. Magic is found on and inside the flat top mountain, in Harar and on the way between the two. Kundudo holds what may well be proven to be the best caves in the whole of Africa,i ts slopes three archaeological sites and a forest to be saved.

A nostalgic song

The longing for a far Country, of a simple life. Of all that could be done in Ethiopia, yet we can’t fix. A peace of mind and a concept of respect between peoples. A state of clear, open mind. To fight poverty. To share our differing cultures. A light blue sky colour that tints incomparable shades on thin distant clouds. Of yellow, orange, deep red, grey, blue, blue like our souls.  As Mahmood Ahmed’s voice covers and colours traditional instruments, singing: Nostalgy as a boat for ideas, floating troubled moments lived with the certainty that there may be no real rest, apart from the final one, but we are the safe ports of a life’s journey, it is all within ourselves, as the song recites. 

Memories of the evening shores of Lake Hayk, near Bati in Wello, where all the tones and rhythms of Ethiopian music came from. The big eyes full of the love of God of a girl who left her family and a worldly life to become the monk on the near island that sank into the beauty of our most mythic lake. Who told me sincerely, simply, what counts really in life.
